Of Death
Thursday, May 10th, 2007Let me start with this statement:
I already had in mind that when I die, I want to have a slide presentation of my pictures (from birth up to the recent ones) while simultaneously spinning the song “Seasons of Love” from the rock musical play RENT.
Here’s a more vivid presentation—
First enter this passage: “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”—Philippians 1:21
Then enter the song “Seasons of Love”
"Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes…how do you measure a year in the life…Measure in LOVE."
Then finale picture (can’t decide which one yet)
Then another passage: “For God so loved the world that He gave His One and Only Son, that whoever believe in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”—John 3:16
Then another one: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
2 Timothy 4:7
There!
As one man said, “It’s only the wonderful hope of dying that keeps me alive.”
Christ’s resurrection is the source of my hope, the reason why I strive to not just exist, but TO LIVE.
I meant here both the physical death and the figurative death: the former being the source of ultimate joy for I will finally rejoin my Father in my permanent home forever; and the latter being the source of my ultimate purpose on earth—to serve others as Christ humbly did.
"Jesus took my place on the cross to give me a place in heaven."
“Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”—James 4:14
God bless your life, Friend!
